We are back this year and encouraging our community to walk with us as we again tackle the challenge to walk 3,686 miles — the distance between the chapters of the Eastern Area of The Links, Incorporated Freedom Trail Cluster.
Every member of our community is important to us. Unfortunately, many African Americans have some form of heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for Americans, but the death rate is higher for African Americans. We know a lot about how to prevent heart disease and stroke. One way to lower your risks for heart disease and stroke is by making healthy lifestyle changes — that includes getting more exercise by walking and other activities. We are committed to making our community healthier. Join us in our goal to walk the Links Freedom Trail!
Freedom Trail Cluster
The Eastern Area of The Links, Incorporated encompasses 83 of the more than 300 chapters of The Links, Incorporated. Area chapters are separated into clusters. The Albany District (NY) Chapter belongs to the Freedom Trail Cluster along with Boston (MA), Central Massachusetts (MA), London (UK), Middlesex County (MA), Greater Providence (RI) and Greater Springfield (MA).
If you complete the stateside portion of the Freedom Trail Cluster are, you will walk approximately 417 miles. Add in our international sister chapter in London, and that's more than 3,600 miles!
So, are you ready to join us on the Links Freedom Trail? Here’s a handy step log to keep track of your daily steps. To use the log, be sure to make a copy for yourself. No one else will see your log. At the end of each month, share your monthly step total with us using the Walk the Freedom Trail monthly log.
